Top 3 Most Popular Barber Chairs for Sale

by Antique Collector

A lookup on eBay about the various barber chair manufacturers that existed in the United States from the 1800’s up to some time the mid-1900’s revealed a fascinating trend. For one, several barber chair parts are being sold or auctioned off. These parts came from manufacturers in different time periods. It’s amazing that they survived the test of time. Second, a few memorabilia exist as well, ranging from schematics to posters and ads. Finally, the condition of many of the vintage and antique barber chairs for sale are surprisingly not as bad as one would expect them to be. They’ve been used for a long time, yet they’re still functional up to this day.

Here’s a quick rundown of the top 3 most popular barber chairs on eBay’s sold listings presented in a highly summarized and visually appealing manner. The infographic is not definitive by any means and may change over time. As of February 2013, these are the top barber chairs for sale. I have a Koch barber chair I am looking to sell for my grandfather. He has had it since the 1940’s when he served in the navy as a barber and he is looking to give it to someone who will appreciate it.

I am the coordinator of a personal property sale starting May 25th, 2015 in Cincinnati and we have a Berninghaus Hercules barber chair in the auction. The auction will be online for one week as active bidding takes place. Go to http://www.ebth.com and look for the “Mason Personal Property Sale” that starts May 25th and ends May 30th.

    Greetings Barber Chair Enthusiasts,

I am selling an Emil Paider barber chair that has a fantastic history. It was owned by a woman who was an award winning hair/make-up stylist during the “Golden Years” of Hollywood. The chair has had some of the most famous butts in the world sit in it including Bob Hope, Peggy Lee, Ronald Reagan, Ann-Margaret, Elvis Presley, Joan Collins, Liza Minelli, Farrah Fawcett, Katherine Ross, John Wayne, Jerry Lewis, Lana Turner, Linda Evans, etc., etc., (I guess it’s really whose butt hasn’t sat in it!).

The chair is in exceptional condition, is complete and fully functional (including “EP” head rest”). I can provide detailed photos & provenance.

I can be reached at: [email protected]

I have an Emil J. Paidar chair from 1961. Used to work well 10 years ago, but has sat covered outside and needs restoration and cleaning. Needs hydraulic oil for pump. Parts and metal areas have rust. Couple small tears in vinyl. Can tilt and spin with effort, but assume needs some work to get back to normal.
