I have a 1958 Emil J. Paidar chair i am working on and the brake does not work. I pumped the chair all the way up and took the cylinder out to examine the problem the brake shoe is there held in with a spring wire. So do these metal brake pads ware out? When the lever is pulled back to the brake position the brake pad does not seem to extend enough to touch the inside of the outer cylinder. The size of the brake pad is 1.013 height x 0.98 wide x short depth of face 0.671 x long depth of face x 0.734. Does anyone know if these dimensions are correct and if not what they should be so I can make a new one. Thanks in advance.
