Antique Original Koken Barber Chair with accessories (circa 1920’s)

This is a completely original barber chair made by Koken. I believe it was made in the 1920’s (serial number B13272) but I am not 100% certain on the manufacture date.

Everything on the chair is exactly the way is was when it was made. The chair is in 100% working condition and includes accessories such as the headrest and footrest, two different style child booster seats and the original razor strap.

The chair swivels, fully reclines and raises and lowers hydraulically. Everything works perfectly including the swivel brake. The chair is in very good condition, however there is some wear on the foot rest and the nickel plating on the base of the chair that can be seen in the photos. Given the age of this chair that is to be expected.

The chair is a rare shade of light green.

The chair easily comes apart (the chair seperates from the base) for easy transport. This way it will fit in the back of an SUV or minivan with the seats folded flat. I can assist the buyer with disassembling the chair and also teaching you how it operates. I may be able to meet the buyer with the chair if you would prefer not to drive all of the way to Pottstown. Some history behind the barber chair: This chair was used in a barbershop in Conshohocken, PA from the 1940s (possibly earlier). That barbershop was purchased by my grandfather in 1968 and the chair was used there until 1986 when he retired. At that time the shop was sold. My grandfather moved the chair to an “In home” barbershop where it remained a topic of conversation among many who continued to come for haircuts. It is truly unique!
